Thank you, Dennis! Welcome to others.

It is sad to see our friend, Dennis leave today but I hope he can see how much he has accomplished here. Bob and Sharon have arrived in the past week and we look forward to having this family with us for a while before he returns to his staff ministry position. Ron's brother, Dick, from Dodge Center has also been working with us. Thank you for joining us! It was so nice to see Becky Worstman and her daughter visit from Mantorville, bringing us lunch.

Another inspection passed & concert

It is always interesting to see what happens with each passing day but the progress is difficult to see or get a pictures of for you to see. Things are happening in the trusses, like firewalls above the ceiling. Gene is working on the electrical. The Builders for Christ had arranged for Chris Driesbach to play for us on Friday evening. A great message along with great music!

Little things with big impacts

The building committee met last night and discussed a few items that were started today. We looked at the videos of our original construction to confirm that there are heating tubes in the floor of the area where the the ladies' room will be expanded. We also saw where the first builders planned for this expansion. This step saved our current workers from tearing up the floor. The east wall of restroom is now down. Fire extinguishers were ordered and the rough-ins were put in place.

Starting the Itchy Work

Curt and Judy's family came over for a few days from Wisconsin to help out as well as play a little golf. It looks like Curtis borrowed grandfather's hard hat. One of the jobs is now putting some insulation in spaces that won't require an electrical inspection. Broken record - it's HOT!

Busy Saturday

John gives a good update about the progress completed this week. The framework for the rooms are complete. The siding is started on the east side. A catwalk was made in the trusses. The upstairs furnace room has a good start. The firewall is coming along well. And a special message to Dennis' family - Dennis works full out but I don't get many pictures of his actual work because I often work "with him" so I don't get the photo. Dennis is camping this week in Schneider's back yard. I might also note that the members almost matched the BFC for hours this week. There were about 8 hours difference. Thank you to the families from Resurrection that provided a fine lunch today.

Hog Roast!

It was a busy week as you will tell by the Saturday entry by John. Delores & Norbert Scherger wanted to express their thanks to the builders by providing a home grown hog in a celebration.  The builders also gathered for a group photo. Another item that made the evening special was an inch of rain!

Walls done in hallway, INSPECTION!

There is a new look into the classrooms now that the frame for the fire doors is in place. Judy helps by picking up stray nails and Kelly helps on the puzzles. There are still a few walls around Pastor's office that need some framing. Martin says that the inspector was there today and had very high praise for the workmanship and attention to requirements that was being followed. He wished all contractors did as good of work as this.

Starting of the week; more walls

Tuesday is starting off fairly well with temps in the 80's instead of 90's. Kevin Doering from St. John's Church in St. Clair came over for the day. The Builders for Christ logo on the pickup meant that Dale Mueller was here to help as well. We found that the heating tubes in the first construction is not as deep as the new construction so several people got a lesson in repairing this situation.

End of a Hot Week

The weather finally cooperated and we did not work in 90 degree temps today. We even had a 2 minute shower. It was a smaller crew today for a Saturday but we accomplished a good amount of wall construction. That evening we also had a pizza party and cards.

Few days of rest, celebrating our freedoms

Sunday through Wednesday was a rest time with Independence Day celebrations. It was a good time to reflect on the fact that we have a country which allows us the freedom to worship. During the weekend, members and builders took time to write their names on door headers. On Thursday, more walls were built. Look for updates on some of our new builders arriving this week.
